I absolutely love talking about snow in my speech therapy sessions. Maybe it’s because I’m from Texas and we don’t see it very much. Maybe it’s HUGE choice of books and activities…Maybe it’s both!

Favorite Books about Snow
The Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow
This continues to be a favorite with the kids. My clients are always engaged with these books. It doesn’t matter how many times they have heard it before!
This is just a really cute book! It reminds me of being a kid and seeing just 1 tiny snowflake. Adults say it’s not going to snow but the boy doesn’t just see one snowflake…he sees snow! The boy ends up being right…a huge snowfall comes!
Preschool Books About Snow

“That’s Not My Snowman” is one of my favorites. It’s great because it is touchy-feely. The different textures engage the child; even the youngest clients love it!
“Snowballs” is a classic. You can read this short book to your smallest clients. I like to make snowmen out of random materials with the kids after reading it!
The snowman stacker is a great toy. My toddlers and preschool population really like these. I found this one at Home Goods. Melissa and Doug make the greatest toys ever!!! I use it to work on requesting, using “more” or “more snow,” and sparking spontaneous language.
TpT Activities for Speech Therapy
“The Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow “Book Buddy can be found on my site. It includes 8 different activities to address articulation, possessive pronouns, categories, verbs and listening skills!
The Snowman Sees… Activity is a freebie you can find on my TpT site. I use it with my little guys to work on vocabulary and increasing MLU. It’s interactive so it allows the kids to choose the picture they want.
I will also be using basic concept booklets from Panda Speech and Let’s Talk Speech Therapy. Love those easy prep books! For some of my younger kids, I address one spatial concept at a time. These kids benefit from the constant repetition of the same concept. During our snowman week, we worked on the concept of “on.” You can find this easy prep book here. The awesome thing about all of these books is I can send them home for extra practice!!
I use lots of different crafts for this theme. You can check them out here!
