This week in speech therapy, the girls dished about unicorns and tea parties. We read “Goldilicious” which is perfect for an imaginiative little girl! What little girl didn’t dream about having a unicorn one day? I know I sure did!
A perfect way to work on language is to have a tea party! You can work on following directions, pronouns, answering/asking questions and articulation! Get out your teacups and saucers, teapots, and pretend food to set your stage. If you are working on articulation targets, choose foods that include her sounds. If you are working on “k”, have cookies, cake, cupcakes, broccoli, or ice cream. If you have a stuffed unicorn, invite her to the tea party too!! Here’s a cute tin tea set perfect for your speech therapy sessions!
I made a couple of language activities to use with my older school age kids. (Even though they would have enjoyed a tea party too, I needed to focus on some other targets.) The activities pictured below are from my “Golden Speech and Language” packet that is paired with “Goldilicious.” (Just search Theme: Girly section)
This is a simple craft with little to no prep. It is in the packet that is in my TpT shop. (Be sure to follow my shop so you get up to date news on new products!!) Just print and copy the unicorn page for each child. Then print the “grass” strips on green paper.
To add a little extra fun to your sessions, be sure to use the unicorn popper. I used it in a couple of artic sessions. Say a word 3x correctly and pop the unicorn! Great for my little girls who like to move!
